From February to April 1964, a ten-week standoff known as the "Siege of Fort Anthony" occurred between Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies and a former Marine named Steven Anthony, who was armed with a shotgun and challenging an eminent domain-based eviction from his home on Alta Loma Terrace.
